Kaija Saariaho
Kaija Saariaho was a Finnish composer whose spectral language fused acoustic instruments, electronics and recorded sound. Work at IRCAM shaped pieces such as Noa Noa, Petals and Six Japanese Gardens, while her operas carried that attention to timbre into large-scale music theatre.
