KLANGfestival returns to Gallneukirchen with a larger frame

The Upper Austrian festival came back as a three-day platform spanning live electronics, installations and experimental bands.

KLANGfestival returned to Gallneukirchen in July after two years away and expanded into a three-day programme. The restart used the former indoor pool and fire-station spaces for concerts, sound installations and work between club electronics, performance and independent rock.

The programme included Deerhoof, Austin TV, Susu Laroche and The Answer Is No, the electronic collaboration of Maja Osojnik and Ursula Winterauer. The extra day created room for installations and slower listening formats.

In a small Upper Austrian town, the return restores a production platform for work that often falls between concert halls and club calendars.
