onQ opens a €10,000 commission through Tyrol's music conservatory

The large-ensemble call links jazz, improvisation and contemporary practice, with premieres planned in Innsbruck and Vienna.

The Tyrolean collective onQ and the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium have opened a €10,000 commission for a new 40-to-45-minute large-ensemble work. Performances are planned at Haus der Musik Innsbruck on 3 March 2027 and Porgy & Bess in Vienna the following day.

The project sits between jazz, improvised music and contemporary composition. Its scale promises substantial writing and rehearsal work, not just a short prize piece.

Electronic relevance is adjacent rather than exclusive: the practice overlaps with live processing and hybrid production, but the call does not make electronics a central criterion.
